Navaratri, Dasara & Diwali 2026: A Festive Marketing Checklist for Coastal Karnataka Businesses
Navaratri begins on 11 October, Dasara falls on 20 October and Diwali on 8 November. Here is a practical, week-by-week checklist to get your designs, offers and online presence ready in time.
Few times of year matter more for businesses on the coast than the festive season. Mangaluru’s Dasara celebrations draw crowds from across the region, and by Diwali people are buying gifts, clothes, gold, sweets and home upgrades. For 2026, Navaratri begins on 11 October, Vijayadashami (Dasara) falls on 20 October and Diwali’s main day is 8 November.
That leaves very little time. Here is the checklist we use with clients to get festive marketing out of the door without the last-minute panic.
Right now: plan the offer, not just the poster
- Decide one clear offer per festival. “Flat 15% off on silk sarees till Dasara” beats a vague “Festive offers available”.
- Fix the dates. When does it start, when does it end, and is it in-store, online or both?
- Check stock and staff so the offer does not run out on day two.
- Choose your languages. For most coastal businesses that means English plus Kannada — and Tulu or Konkani lines can add real warmth.
Week 1: create the design kit
One consistent set of creatives works far better than a different look every day. Ask your designer for a small kit built on one idea:
- Instagram and Facebook posts (square and 4:5)
- Stories and Reels covers (9:16)
- A WhatsApp status image and a broadcast message
- A printable A4/A3 poster and a counter standee
- A banner for the top of your website
Keep your logo, colours and fonts consistent, and resist the urge to fill every corner with marigolds and lamps — a clean design with one striking festive element stands out in a crowded feed.
Week 2: update everything customers check
- Google Business Profile: add special festival hours and post your offer as an update with a photo.
- Website: add the offer banner and make sure prices, timings and the “Call / WhatsApp” button are correct on mobile.
- WhatsApp Business: update your catalog, quick replies and away message for busy days.
- Instagram bio: mention the offer and link straight to the relevant page.
During the festival: show up every day
- Post short Reels of the shop, the products and the team — people buy from people.
- Share customer photos (with permission) and thank-you notes.
- Reply to messages fast; festive buyers rarely wait.
- Keep a simple daily note of enquiries and sales so you know what worked.
After Diwali: don’t waste the momentum
Thank your customers, ask for Google reviews while the experience is fresh, and save your best-performing creatives as templates for Christmas, New Year and next year’s festive season.
Festive marketing is won in September and early October — not on the morning of Dasara.
